About the speaker: Jesús M. Carro is Professor of Economics at the University Carlos III of Madrid. He obtained his PhD in Microeconomics at the Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros (CEMFI). He also holds two Master degrees in Economics and Econometrics from the CEMFI and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Prof Carro has taught at the University of Copenhagen and he has been visiting scholar at the Massachussetss Institute of Technology (MIT). His research focuses primarily on the development and evaluation of econometric techniques for better analysis of microeconomic data, the study of economic theories, and the evaluation of public policies.
About the event: Prof. Carro talked about the virtues and vices of the education system in Spain in light of the leading economic standards. He provided a very interesting analysis of the PISA report and reflected on the central role of Education in the political debate. He also answered a number of questions from the audience for more than 30 minutes.
